Over-beach bungalows, or “ares,” look out onto the Rarotonga’s deep blue lagoon, while “Pia Tiare,” or garden houses, are nestled among fragrant tropical flowers. The ares feature private gazebos, outdoor spa tubs, and rich, mahogany woodwork. Pia Tiare have the extra feature of a gas burner, microwave and toaster, allowing couples a full retreat of their own.
